Great Plains software, rapidly growing, dynamic software corporation, acquired eighty acres next to its home office. Taking a cue from the shelter-belt, the plain’s greatest cultural artifact, the master plan’s constructed elements, parking, plantings and buildings, were designed to mitigate harsh winter northwest winds. Our first building is a technologically sophisticated structure that creates a profound connection to the landscape for which the company is named. To address the need for ubiquitous bandwidth and a flexible work environment, the building integrates information technology distribution, power, and air delivery into a raised floor system. The 12’ high acoustic structural deck, and 48’ clear spans allow daylight and views to permeate the workspace, reducing materials use and energy consumption.
