The STL CITY SC ownership group conceived of CITY Pavilion as an opportunity to connect with fans through a stand-alone team store. It creates a social opportunity for fans, parents of soccer academy players, and the greater soccer community and serves as an important part of building the fan experience. The pavilion has been used for press conferences, a backdrop for team marketing, and the first stop for fans looking for limited-release merchandise.
Located on Market Street, across from CITYPARK stadium, CITY Pavilion encloses a solid stainless-steel cube floating in a glass and masonry volume. On the western face of the cube, a glowing CITY SC crest is cut into the stainless-steel enclosure, a landmark for the soccer district and a marker of the beginning of Gateway Mall as one approaches the district from the West.
A café in the base of the cube on the first floor opens up to an outdoor patio for coffee that doubles as parking on match days. Above the coffee shop, within the stainless-steel cube, is an apparel studio where fans can customize their soccer jerseys. Both the inside of the cube and the steel stair are painted the team’s accent color: energy yellow. Open daily, the CITY Pavilion reinforces CITY SC’s commitment to creating a district that is open year-round and extends the team experience beyond game day.
