The Mall of America Transit Station replaces an existing facility to provide safety, operational and aesthetic upgrades. One of the busiest connection points in the Metro transit system, the new facility supports the daily experience for people working and shopping at the mall. Coordinating with the City’s Neighborhood Plan, the station has a new conditioned entrance from 24th Avenue South. The design incorporates a perforated white ceiling plane to help establish a clear and path through the station and directly into the mall. New Bloomington and Metro-Transit Police offices, driver amenities, community outreach and retail spaces line the path between the street and the mall. On the opposite wall, a glass enclosure gives out onto departing trains and buses. A clean comfortable waiting area, increased lighting levels and enhanced signage convey the investment made in the transit passenger experience.
